Heavier doors and double doors need more lifting force. Lighter single doors run well on a roughly 1/2 HP class opener (about 500 N of force), while insulated, wood, carriage, or double doors usually call for a 3/4 HP to 1.25 HP class opener (about 800 to 1200 N). Match the opener to the door weight the manufacturer lists.
